Giovanni Simeone and Riccardo Sottil scored on either side of half-time as Fiorentina beat Chivas de Guadalajara 2-1 in the opening match of the International Champions Cup tournament.

Javier Lopez gave the Liga MX team the inital lead in the 25th minute at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois but the Serie A club pulled it back two minutes later on Simeone’s score.

Alan Pulido had a chance to tie it up for Chivas but missed a penalty in the 36th minute. Sottil gave La Viola the eventual game-winner in the 52nd minute.
