Western United FC show a glimpse of the preparations going into their debut season in the A-League.
New Melbourne City coach Erick Mombaerts says he will bring an attractive style of play to the club.

The son of former Adelaide United favourite Cassio has been selected for Australia’s upcoming ASEAN Football Federation Under-15 Championship campaign.

Bernardo Oliveira was on Tuesday named in the 23-player squad for the championships starting in Thailand on July 27.

Oliveira’s Brazilian father arrived in South Australia in 2007 and was twice named Adelaide’s club champion in his seven seasons with the Reds, making 124 appearances for the club.

He took Australian citizenship in 2012 and has run a soccer academy in Adelaide since his retirement in 2014.

Cassio made 158 appearances for Adelaide United, scoring 11 goals.

The Joeys kick off their campaign against Cambodia in Chonburi on July 28 and have further group matches against Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei.

Head coach Trevor Morgan said the tournament is the first step towards the 2021 under-17 World Cup for the squad.

“With a minimum of five and up to seven international matches over the two weeks of the tournament, the AFF Under-15 Championship will give the players selected a great introduction to international football,” Morgan said.
