Sources: Bucks extend GM Horst on 3-year deal

Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst — an NBA Executive of the Year candidate — has signed a three-year contract extension, league sources told ESPN.

The Bucks announced the deal on Friday, terming it “a multi-year extension.”

Horst is considered one of the front-runnners for NBA Executive of the Year, a short list that includes Denver‘s Tim Connelly, the Clippers‘ Lawrence Frank and Toronto‘s Masai Ujiri.

Milwaukee ownership approached Horst near the end of the Bucks’ season about beginning talks on a new deal and those conversations culminated in an agreement in recent days, league sources said. Horst has evolved into a popular figure and strong leader in a Bucks organization that had struggled through fractures in recent years.

Horst has made a dramatic impact in his two years as GM, surrounding All-NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star Khris Middleton with a strong supporting cast and an elite coach, Mike Budenholzer. Milwaukee had the NBA’s best regular-season record and advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Bucks are 104-60 (.634) in his two-year tenure.
