Khabib Nurmagomedov will make his return to the Octagon on Sept. 7 when he faces Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates.
The main event matchup was announced by UFC’s Dana White on SportsCenter.
Nurmagomedov (27-0) has not fought since an October victory over Conor McGregor.
Nurmagomedov indicated a month ago that he was preparing to observe the one-month fasting period of Ramadan. His agent, Ali Abdelaziz, said then that Nurmagomedov would continue to train and then would like to fight in September, December and April.
