Former Celtic coach and kit man jailed for sex abuse

Former football coach and Celtic kit man Jim McCafferty has been sentenced to more than six years in jail, after admitting to a series of sex offences against young boys that took place over several decades.

On Tuesday, the 72-year-old pleaded guilty to 11 charges related to paedophile activity against 10 victims.

Originally from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, McCafferty was involved in football in Scotland and Ireland from the 1980s onwards, and worked as a kit man at Celtic, Hibernian and Falkirk.

McCafferty’s jail term of six years and nine months is backdated to October.
