Urias arrested on suspicion of domestic battery

MLB

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested Monday night on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence/battery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said the arrest stemmed from an incident between Urias, 22, and a woman in the parking lot of the Beverly Center, a shopping area, at 7:30 p.m. PT.

Urias spent the night in jail and was released at 1:30 a.m. PT Tuesday after posting $20,000 bail. The Dodgers have not commented on the arrest.

Urias is one of the top young pitchers in the Dodgers’ organization. The left-hander has been used both as a starter and reliever this season, going 2-2 with a 3.18 ERA and two saves in nine games, including four starts.

A native of Mexico, Urias appeared in just eight games combined in 2017 and 2018 because of a shoulder injury that required surgery.
