Banged-up Curry, Thompson playing in Game 1

NBA

Golden State Warriors star guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will play in Game 1 of Golden State’s playoff series against the Houston Rockets on Sunday after being listed as questionable because of ankle injuries.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr first announced Curry’s status Sunday afternoon, adding that fellow injured All-Star Klay Thompson would be a game-time decision. But after going through pregame warmups, Thompson was cleared to play and will be in Golden State’s starting lineup along with Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala.

An MRI on Thompson’s right ankle returned clean on Saturday night. His ankle was heavily taped during the warmup session Sunday.

Reserve guard Austin Rivers (illness) will not play for the Rockets.
