Maycee Barber had successful surgery on her right hand Tuesday in Chicago, her father Bucky Barber told ESPN.

According to her father, Barber broke her hand in the first round of her win against JJ Aldrich last month in Nashville. Barber, 20, defeated Aldrich via TKO in the second round, improving her record to 7-0.

Barber’s recovery time is two to three months, her father said. She is now targeting a return in August and is considering moving back down to strawweight.

The Aldrich fight marked Barber’s flyweight debut. She moved up to 125 pounds after almost missing the 116-pound strawweight limit in her UFC debut last November.

“If the nutrition plan stays on pace during this break she may be able to return to 115,” Barber said. “We will just have to see how her body responds.”
