Mourinho to watch Inter Milan-Tottenham Legends match from touchline

Gab Marcotti speculates on the type of club Jose Mourinho will manage next if the top tier teams don’t come calling.

Inter Milan have confirmed that Jose Mourinho will watch Inter Forever’s exhibition match with Spurs Legends at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday from the touchline, although Francesco Toldo will be their coach for the day.

The Portuguese, who guided Inter to an historic Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League Treble in 2010, will catch up with some of the players he had in that season — such as current Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti, Dejan Stankovic and Julio Cesar — in the English capital.

However, it will be former goalkeeper Toldo coaching a squad of 18 former Inter players and not Mourinho, who will nevertheless follow the action from pitchside.

“We’re honoured that we’ve been chosen by Tottenham to baptise their new stadium,” said Toldo on Inter’s website.

“The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is undoubtedly one of the most modern and spectacular stadiums in the whole of the United Kingdom. We can’t wait to take to the pitch and play there.

“I think a lot of professional footballers will be envious of us — they also can’t wait to play at the stadium for the first time.

“Now that I’ve received confirmation, I’m particularly excited to reveal a nice surprise for our fans: Jose Mourinho will come along and greet our team at our training camp in London and will then follow the match from the touchline alongside us.”
