Dani Alves has withdrawn from the Brazil team for their upcoming March friendlies against Panama and the Czech Republic.

The 35-year-old right-back picked up a left knee injury in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over Marseille on Sunday when he came down awkwardly after jumping for a header.

Corinthians right-back Fagner will take his place in the team. He joins Manchester City’s Danilo as an option on the right side of defence for manager Tite.

Alves is the second full-back to leave the team for the international break, joining Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis, who was also injured.

Brazil face Panama on Saturday, March 23 in Porto, Portugal before taking on the Czechs three days later in the Czech Republic.
