Wales make one change for Scotland as Beard starts

Rugby

Wales lock Adam Beard has been named in Warren Gatland’s side to face Scotland in the Six Nations on Saturday, the only change from the team that beat England two weeks ago.

Beard comes into the second row as a replacement for Cory Hill, who scored against England but has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament with an ankle injury.

Elsewhere, Gatland has shown faith in the same side that ended England’s Grand Slam hopes with a 21-13 win, sticking with fly-half Gareth Anscombe over Dan Biggar, who impressed from the bench in Cardiff against Eddie Jones’ side.

Beard lines up alongside captain Alun Wyn-Jones in the second row while Anscombe partners scrum-half Gareth Davies.

Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Tomos Francis are named in the front row, with Josh Navidi, Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty forming the back row.

Centres Hadleigh Parkes and Jonathan Davies start in midfield and winger Josh Adams, who scored Wales’ second try, plays in the back three alongside George North and fullback Liam Williams.
