Halfpenny returns to Wales for England clash

Leigh Halfpenny will return to the Wales squad to face England in the Six Nations, his club coach Wayne Pivac has confirmed.

The Scarlets head coach revealed that fullback Halfpenny — who has been out of action since November due to a concussion — will return to training with Wales on Wednesday.

“It’s great to see him running around with a smile on his face,” said Pivac. “He did everything, full contact, full tackling, we had a mini-game scenario with no hiding places and he was taking high balls, getting clattered and did everything he needed to do.

“He goes back to Wales available, we feed back information, medical team to medical team and I have passed a little note on to Warren. Warren will make a call on what he does from there. I think we are going to get a message on who, if any, are going to get released after Wales training on Wednesday.”

Halfpenny, 30, missed the opening two Six Nations matches after failing to recover from the concussion he suffered against Australia on Nov.10.

Wales sit top of the table after victories over France and Italy and they will meet England at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Feb. 23.
