Ireland back row CJ Stander has been ruled out of action for “up to four weeks” with a facial injury, the Irish Rugby Football (IFRU) confirmed Monday.

Stander, 28, was replaced after 65 minutes during Ireland’s 33-20 Six Nations opening defeat against England at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

The injury means that the number eight could miss the remainder of the tournament, with Ireland’s final match against Wales taking place on Mar. 16.

“CJ Stander has a facial injury that could rule him out for up to four weeks,” the IRFU confirmed in a statement.

The IRFU also confirmed that Devin Toner (ankle) and Garry Ringrose (hamstring) will be assessed over the next 24 hours.

Wing Keith Earls picked up a hip-pointer injury and will be managed this week, while Andrew Conway will return to Munster due to a calf problem.

Ireland face Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.
