Unai Emery has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association after being charged with improper conduct for kicking a water bottle at a Brighton supporter.

The incident occurred in the latter stages of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium on Boxing Day, where he kicked a bottle in frustration towards fans of the home side.

He immediately apologised to the supporter that the bottle hit.

“I kicked it for me and it went near the supporters,” Emery said after the game. “I said my apologies, I repeat my apologies again.

“I kicked it because it is near me and not because of this intention.”

The incident occurred a week after an Arsenal fan threw a water bottle at Dele Alli during their defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
