Two shirts worn by Diego Maradona during his days at Napoli fetched nearly €20,000 at an auction in Italy on Thursday.

The shirts, which were worn by Maradona in one of Napoli’s Serie A fixtures in the 1986-87 season and the 1990-91 campaign, went under the hammer at the Aste Bolaffi auction house in Turin.

The first of which — a red, long-sleeved No. 9 jersey he wore during the tumultuous 1990-91 season — changed hands for €12,000.

And later, the iconic blue No. 10 jersey Maradona wore in the season Napoli first won the Serie A title (1986-87) ultimately sold for €6,500.

A Lazio shirt worn by Paul Gascoigne during the 1994-95 season was sold for €475 while Roberto Mancini’s 1993-94 Sampdoria shirt went for €450.

A collection of over 200 items were on sale at the auction, including a Barcelona home shirt worn by Lionel Messi last season, which brought €600, as well as match-worn items sported by the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Giorgio Chiellini.
