Meyer to retire from coaching after Rose Bowl

Urban Meyer will retire from coaching after Ohio State’s appearance in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, the school announced Tuesday.

Ryan Day, who currently is Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, will take over as the Buckeyes’ head coach on Jan. 2.

Meyer, Day and Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith will discuss the decision at a news conference Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET.

Meyer owns a career record of 186-32 and has coached the Buckeyes to an 82-9 record in seven seasons at the school.
