Montpellier defender Ambroise Oyongo has been ruled out of the Cameroon squad to face Morocco in Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The full-back, as well as injured midfielder Petrus Boumal, will also miss the international friendly against Brazil on Tuesday.

“Ambroise Oyongo will not play matches against Morocco and Brazil due to a wound on his right knee,” read a statement published by the Cameroon FA.

“Petrus Boumal will not be able to take part in the next Indomitable Lions’ games because of an injury he sustained with his club.

“According to the national team doctor, Professor William Ngatchou, who consulted the player upon his arrival and did his imaging, his wound requires medical care.”

FC Mariupol’s Dawa Joyskim Tchakonte has replaced Oyongo, although Cameroon are yet to name a replacement for Boumal.

Oyongo only made his return to the Cameroon fold for the May friendly against Burkina Faso following a long injury lay-off.

The 27-year-old has played nine times for MHSC this season, scoring twice, having signed from Montreal Impact last term.

Cameroon face Morocco on November 16 at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca before meeting Brazil in a friendly in London on November 20.

While Cameroon have qualified automatically for the 2019 AFCON as hosts, the Indomitable Lions are still taking part in the qualifying campaign in Group B.

They currently lead the group on eight points, one ahead of Morocco on seven.
