Nuggets’ Barton sidelined with right hip injury

NBA

The Denver Nuggets say Will Barton suffered a right hip injury and will not return to Saturday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Barton scored on a reverse layup with just under nine minutes left in the third quarter and immediately went down to the court, holding his groin area.

He remained there for several minutes before being wheeled off the court on a chair.

Barton, a veteran shooting guard, scored 19 points in Denver’s season opener. He averaged a career-high 15.7 points last season for the Nuggets.
