Ex-Seahawks LB Brooks agrees to join Dolphins

Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins on a three-year contract worth $30 million, agent Erik Burkhardt told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Brooks, 26, remarkably made it back for last season’s opener after tearing his ACL in Week 17 of the 2022 season. He played in 16 games for Seattle, missing one in December with an ankle injury that slowed him over the final six weeks of the season.

He improved as a playmaker, though he finished with 50 fewer tackles than he had in 2022 — going from 161 to 111. He recorded 4.5 sacks after totaling just two over his first three seasons and returned his first career interception for a touchdown.

With Brooks still recovering from his torn ACL, Seattle declined his fifth-year option last May, which would have paid him $12.722 million in 2024.

Brooks, the 27th overall pick in 2020, became a starter during his rookie season and finished with a career-high 184 tackles in 2021, which ranked second in the NFL that season. In 2022, he took over for Bobby Wagner as Seattle’s defensive signal-caller, a role he relinquished when Wagner returned last season.

Over his four-year NFL career, Brooks, 26, has recorded 513 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, an interception and 16 passes defensed in 63 regular-season games.

ESPN’s Brady Henderson contributed to this report.
