Bayern give up late lead to suffer fresh title blow

SC Freiburg forward Lucas Höler scored an 87th-minute goal on Friday to snatch a 2-2 draw against visitors Bayern Munich, whose Bundesliga title hopes suffered a further blow.

The result left Bayern seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who have 61 and can pull 10 points clear with a win over Cologne on Sunday.

Freiburg took a 12th minute lead with Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer first palming a Roland Sallai header away, then seeing his rebound bicycle kick bounce off the post before Christian Günter rifled in.

The hosts had half a dozen chances to score again in a strong half hour before Bayern hit against the run of play with an unstoppable long-range shot from Mathys Tel in the 35th.

Jamal Musiala‘s solo effort in the 75th put the visitors in front but they could not hold on to the win, with Höler bagging the late equaliser with a fine turn and shot in the box.

Bayern, who host Lazio in their Champions League round of 16 return leg next week, have 54 points from 24 league matches.
