Richard Wigglesworth broke the all-time Premiership appearance record in Saracens’ home victory over Gloucester on Sunday.

The scrum-half, 35, overtook former England international Steve Borthwick as he made the 266th top-flight appearance of his 17-year career.

Wigglesworth, who has also won 31 England caps, started his career with Sale Sharks before moving to Saracens in 2010. In his nine seasons at the London club Wigglesworth has won four Premiership titles and was welcomed onto the pitch at Allianz Park alongside his two children.

The Premiership’s defending champions also produced a performance fitting of the occasion as they defeated Gloucester 38-15 to move back to the top of the table.

In the battle of the star No. 10s, it was Owen Farrell who outshone counterpart Danny Cipriani.

Farrell, who alongside George Ford was picked ahead of Cipriani in Eddie Jones’ latest England squad, set up Saracens’ second try with a booming kick and added 13 points from the tee.
