Tanzania head coach Emmanuel Amunike has dropped six Simba SC players for indiscipline ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uganda.

The Taifa Stars meet Group L leaders the Cranes in Namboole on September 8, but will be without several key players after six of the reigning Tanzanian champions’ players failed to report to camp on time.

“Coach Amunike has dropped six Simba SC players after they failed to report to camp this week having featured in a Tanzania Premier League game,” Tanzania Football Federation media officer Cliford Mario Ndimbo told KweséESPN.

“The coach made it clear that he will only deal with players who are disciplined,” Ndimbo added. “He has called seven other players to replace the Simba SC players.”

Shomari Kapombe, Erasto Nyoni, Jonas Mkude, Hassan Dilunga, Shiza Kichuya and hot-shot John Bocco are the players dropped, in a decision that has been supported by the TFF.

“The TFF will continue to stand behind coach Amunike to restore the national team’s value and will not ignore any misconduct,” TFF Secretary Wilfred Kidao told KweséESPN.

Salum Kihimbwa, Kelvin Sabato (Mtibwa Sugar FC), David Mwantika, Frank Domayo (Azam FC), Ally Abdulkadil, Paul Ngalema (Lipuli FC) and Salum Kimenya (Tanzania Prisons FC) are the players who have been called into the squad.
