Major League Soccer suspended both Toronto FC defender Chris Mavinga and Orlando City midfielder Yoshi Yotun an additional game for separate violent conduct incidents last weekend.
Mavinga was involved in a skirmish at the end of Toronto’s 2-2 draw at Atlanta United. A linesman was trying to separate the players after the final whistle when Mavinga reached across him to give a shove to the head of Atlanta’s Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
Yotun was also disciplined for pushing his fist into the neck of the New England Revolution’s Jalil Anibaba in a 3-3 draw.
Both players were issued red cards for their actions, leading to an automatic one-game suspension, and MLS announced on Friday they would also be suspended an additional game, as well fined an undisclosed amount.
Orlando City was also fined because it was the team’s third violation of the league’s mass confrontation policy this season.
The league also announced fines for embellishment to Sporting Kansas City midfielder Yohan Croizet and Real Salt Lake midfielder Sunny Stephen, and one to Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke for entering a prohibited area in a game for which he was suspended.
