Dallas Mavericks stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving missed their second consecutive game Monday night because of injuries.
Doncic was ruled out of the home game against the Memphis Grizzlies a day before due to the left thigh strain that has been bothering him for a few weeks.
Irving was downgraded from questionable to out about two hours before tipoff. Irving said his right foot has been sore since he played 41 minutes in Wednesday’s loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, when Doncic exited in the third quarter.
Mavs coach Jason Kidd, speaking before Dallas’ 104-88 loss to Memphis, said the status of both All-Stars is day-to-day and expressed optimism that Doncic and Irving would be able to practice Tuesday.
Reserve forward/center Christian Wood was a late addition to Dallas’ injury report Monday, and was ruled out shortly before the game with right foot soreness. =
Doncic and Irving both missed Saturday’s 112-108 loss to the Grizzlies in Memphis.
Doncic’s left thigh has been bothering him for several games and has gotten progressively more painful, leading to his early exit in Wednesday’s game.
An MRI on Doncic’s left thigh Thursday revealed no damage, and Doncic will return once the discomfort allows him to, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
