Fan zone to highlight $50M Talladega renovation

NASCAR

Talladega Superspeedway will overhaul its garage area to turn it into a gathering zone for fans with views of the teams as they work on their cars.

The track will put a 35,000-square-foot fan area between the two rows of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage stalls, allowing for a bar, restrooms and concessions as part of the new layout. Wi-Fi will be available throughout the area.

Also being added are a vehicle tunnel in Turn 3, an RV area on the backstretch with 300 spots, a large video board and a race operations/broadcasting building overlooking the tri-oval. The drivers meeting area will be renovated, and the media center will be upgraded. A new Victory Lane will also be constructed.

The $50 million project is scheduled to be completed by October 2019.
