Sources: Rockhold-Weidman II on tap for Nov. 3

The UFC is close to finalizing a middleweight bout between former champions Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman for UFC 230 in New York, according to sources.

The pay-per-view event will take place on Nov. 3 inside Madison Square Garden. The UFC has not yet announced a main event for the card.

These two middleweights met previously in a 185-pound title fight at UFC 194 in December 2015. Rockhold claimed the middleweight championship by defeating Weidman via TKO in the fourth round.

Rockhold (16-4), of San Jose, fought Yoel Romero for the interim title at UFC 221 earlier this year, and came up short by knockout. He had considered a move up to the 205-pound weight class, but has apparently postponed that move in favor of the Weidman rematch.

Fighting out of Long Island, New York, Weidman (14-3) hasn’t fought since a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum in July 2017. He’s been sidelined with a thumb injury since, but remains in the thick of title contention at 185 pounds.
