Sources: Anunoby out two weeks to rest finger

NBA

Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby will be sidelined for two weeks to rest a fractured finger, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Anunoby will re-evaluated at the end of that stretch on a plan for his return to play, sources said.

Anunoby, who’s averaging career highs in points (17.5), rebounds (5.5) and assists (2.6), is expected to avoid surgery on that right ring finger and the hope is that the two weeks of rest will allow for the healing needed to get him back on the floor.

He’s been out of the lineup for four straight games.

After Anunoby saw a hand specialist Monday, Raptors coach Nick Nurse told reporters Tuesday that “the specialist said it was nearly healed, it’s getting better every day. They said probably within two weeks it would be fully healed. …”

The Raptors entered Thursday 34-27 and holding seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
