Brewers, looking for offensive spark, call up Black

MLB

The Milwaukee Brewers will call up top infield prospect Tyler Black in advance of Tuesday’s home game against the Tampa Bay Rays, according to multiple reports.

Black, 23, was ranked the fourth-best prospect in the Brewers’ organization and the No. 51 prospect in all of baseball by ESPN MLB Insider Kiley McDaniel entering the season.

A first-round draft pick (No. 33 overall) in 2021, the left-handed power hitter was batting .303 with five home runs and 18 RBIs at Triple-A Nashville.

No corresponding move has been reported, with the Brewers also required to open a spot on the 40-man roster for the Toronto native, who attended Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.

MLB Network first reported Black’s call-up.

Field Level Media contributed to this report.
