Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea after 4-year stint

Thiago Silva is to leave Chelsea after a four-year spell at the end of the season, the club announced on Monday.

The former Brazil international’s finest moment for the club came in the 2020-21 season, where his experience helped Chelsea reach the Champions League final and defeat Manchester City to earn the second European Cup in their history.

“I think everything I did here over the four years, I always gave my all. But unfortunately, everything has a start a middle and an end,” Silva said in a video posted to Chelsea’s social media.

“I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here.”

The central defender appeared 109 times in the Premier League for Chelsea, scoring eight goals.
