AUGUSTA, Ga. — There will be more than a green jacket on the line in the final round of the 88th Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday.
The Masters champion will receive $3.6 million from a record $20 million purse, Augusta National Golf Club officials announced Saturday. That’s a 33% increase from just two years ago, when first-time winner Scottie Scheffler collected $2.7 million of a $15 million purse in 2022.
Last year, Spain’s Jon Rahm won $3.24 million from an $18 million purse.
The rest of the top five payouts this year are $2.16 million for second, $1.36 million for third, $960,000 for fourth and $800,000 for fifth. The 50th-place finisher will receive $50,400, and golfers who finish outside the top 50 will get $49,200 or less.
This year’s purse is nearly double from nine years ago, when Jordan Spieth won $1.8 million from a purse of just over $10 million.
In 2010, Phil Mickelson collected $1.35 million for winning his third green jacket. First-time winner Vijay Singh won $828,000 for his first Masters victory in 2000.
