Titans add ex-Bolts LB Murray to free agent haul

NFL

Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. confirmed on social media that he has agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans.

According to multiple reports, he agreed to a two-year contract worth $18 million.

It continues a free agent haul for the Titans, who had already reached agreements with running back Tony Pollard, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie and center Lloyd Cushenberry during the negotiating period.

The Los Angeles Chargers traded into the first round to get Murray in 2020, sending second- and third-round picks to select him at No. 23 overall, but the returns weren’t what the Chargers hoped for, and they declined Murray’s fifth-year option ahead of the 2023 season.

Over his four seasons with the Chargers, Murray struggled in run defense, missed tackles and had routine lapses in coverage. On the plus side, he set a career high in 2023 with three sacks, led the team with 107 tackles and secured a game-sealing interception against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.

ESPN’s Kris Rhim contributed to this report.
