The Carolina Panthers agreed to a four-year, $53 million deal with guard Damien Lewis, a league source told ESPN’s David Newton.
The agreement with Lewis, a former member of the Seattle Seahawks, includes $26.2 million guaranteed, the source said.
Lewis was the second guard the Panthers picked up on Monday. Earlier in the day, the team was finalizing a five-year, $100 million deal that includes $63 million guaranteed with former Miami Dolphins guard Robert Hunt, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.
Lewis, who turns 27 on March 21, ranked 41st among all guards (left or right) in pass block win rate last season while starting all but one game for the Seahawks. Over his four NFL seasons, Lewis is 32nd among guards in PBWR.
After playing right guard as a rookie and making one spot start at center that year, Lewis has started at left guard the past three seasons. He has started 61 of a possible 67 regular-season games over his career, including 16 in 2023; he missed Week 6 with an ankle injury.
The Seahawks drafted Lewis in the third round (No. 69 overall) in 2020 out of LSU, where he was part of the Tigers’ 2019 national championship team.
