New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton has been activated off the injured list and is in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game vs. the Detroit Tigers.
Stanton landed on the injured list for the fourth straight season on May 25 after suffering right ankle inflammation.
He is hitting .285 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs for the Yankees, who went 8-2 in his absence and still have the top record in the majors at 37-15.
Since 2011, Stanton has been on the injured list in all but the 2014, 2017 and 2018 seasons. He has a .269 career batting average with 358 homers and 928 RBIs.
In related roster moves, the Yankees optioned Miguel Andujar to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
