Blazers’ Zeller out 8-10 weeks after knee surgery

NBA

Portland Trail Blazers center Cody Zeller underwent knee surgery Tuesday to repair a right patellar avulsion fracture and will be reevaluated in eight to 10 weeks, according to the team.

Zeller had the procedure in Los Angeles with Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

The veteran big man was averaging 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes for Portland, which signed him to a one-year deal in the offseason.

It’s the latest bad injury news for the Trail Blazers, who remain without Damian Lillard (abdominal surgery) and also were without CJ McCollum (collapsed lung) for an extended period.

Portland is 20-27 after Tuesday night’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
