Aiden Markram, David Miller and Kagiso Rabada were rested.
With three wins in 11 matches, Ireland are currently fifth in the World Cup Super League points table. A win today will help them leapfrog Pakistan. South Africa, meanwhile, are placed 11th with a solitary win in five matches.
