The UFC is targeting a new date of July 24 for a bantamweight fight between former champion TJ Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen, multiple sources told ESPN, confirming an MMA Junkie report.

Contracts have not been signed, but the UFC is working on finalizing the 135-pound contest. Once official, it will headline a UFC Fight Night at a location to be announced.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on May 8, but Dillashaw, 35, suffered a cut near his eyebrow during training and was forced to postpone.

Dillashaw (16-4) has not fought since he was knocked out in the first round of a flyweight championship fight against Henry Cejudo in January 2019. The California native was then suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for two years after testing positive for EPO (erythropoietin). He was forced to relinquish his 135-pound title at the time of his suspension.

Sandhagen (14-2) is one of the most promising contenders at 135 pounds. He is 7-1 in the UFC overall.
