Sixers sit Embiid (shoulder) before loss to Bucks

NBA

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Joel Embiid was ruled out shortly before tipoff against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a shoulder injury on Saturday.

Sixers coach Doc Rivers said Embiid had to test his shoulder before the game. The All-Star warmed up on the floor and was initially reported as available and in the starting lineup before later being ruled out.

The 76ers not only played against the Bucks without their MVP candidate, but they’re also without Ben Simmons, who missed his fourth straight game due to illness. Shooting guard Furkan Kormaz is also out for the second straight game with a right ankle sprain.

Philadelphia entered Saturday’s game a half-game back of the first-place Brooklyn Nets and 2.5 games up on third-place Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference standings.
