Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani is out at least 4-6 weeks as a pitcher after being diagnosed with a grade 1-2 strain of the flexor pronator mass, the team announced Monday.
Ohtani is traveling with the team to Seattle and his status as a DH is day-to-day.
The news comes after the 26-year-old reported discomfort in his throwing arm following Sunday’s abbreviated start against the Houston Astros.
Ohtani has struggled this season as a pitcher in his return from Tommy John surgery. He was unable to get out of the second inning on Sunday after failing to record an out in his first start.
