Unidentified Magic player tests positive for virus

NBA

The Orlando Magic said Tuesday that one of their players recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

Team president Jeff Weltman declined to identify the player to reporters but said the individual is following protocols and hopes to join the team soon.

In addition to the Magic, players and staff from the Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards began arriving Tuesday at the NBA bubble at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Weltman said guard Markelle Fultz isn’t with the club because he’s dealing with a personal matter unrelated to the coronavirus.

“He’s on top of everything, and hopefully he’ll be out here shortly,” Weltman said.

Forward Al-Farouq Aminu, who had surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, also is not with the team as he continues his rehab, Weltman said.
