Source: Heat close facility after 2nd positive test

NBA

The Miami Heat have closed their training facility after a second player tested positive for the coronavirus, a source confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

The Heat will have players at the arena over the coming days to satisfy NBA-mandated testing requirements, but the team will not reopen the gym for individual workouts before leaving for the Walt Disney World complex near Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, a source told The Associated Press.

The second player’s identity was not released by the team.

Heat guard Derrick Jones Jr. tested positive for the coronavirus last week and has been working through the NBA protocols on a return-to-play plan.

Five Reasons Sports Network first reported that the facilities will be closed.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
