Stanford coach David Shaw announced Tuesday that quarterback K.J. Costello will return this weekend against No. 17 UCF, but said the team will be without star offensive tackle Walker Little, who will have season-ending knee surgery.
Costello missed Saturday’s loss to USC with a head injury suffered the week before against Northwestern. Davis Mills replaced him, going 22-of-36 for 237 yards, with a TD and a pick.
Little was hurt in the season opener against the Wildcats and also missed Saturday’s game against the Trojans. It’s a huge loss for the Cardinal offensive line; he was No. 14 on Mel Kiper Jr.’s preseason Big Board.
