Liverpool teenager Bobby Duncan is due to complete a £1.8 million permanent move to Fiorentina, sources have told ESPN FC.

The forward, who is set to sign a three-year deal with the Italian side ahead of the Monday’s European transfer deadline, was at the centre of controversy last week.

When does the transfer window close?

Duncan’s agent, Saif Rubie, released a statement accusing Liverpool and their sporting director Michael Edwards of “mentally bullying and destroying the life of a young man” after the club batted away loan offers from Fiorentina and FC Nordsjaelland.

That prompted the European champions to state they were “disappointed by the unattributed comments and unfounded allegations that have been made in the media regarding one of our players.”

Liverpool vowed to “work privately with Duncan to find a resolution in the best interests of all involved” and that has materialised with the 18-year-old getting the transfer he craved after Fiorentina returned with a permanent proposal, which includes a 20% sell-on clause.

Duncan joined the Anfield club in August last year for a compensation fee of £200,000 from Manchester City, where he had been since the age of 11.

The player, cousin of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, scored 32 goals for the under-18s in his debut campaign.

Duncan also featured for the first-team during their pre-season tour of the United States in July.

He joins Fiorentina after Argentina forward Giovanni Simeone left the club to join Cagliari on loan with an obligation to buy.
