Red Sox put Price on paternity; recall Hernandez

MLB

The Boston Red Sox have placed left-hander David Price on the paternity leave list, the team announced before its series opener against the Yankees in New York on Friday.

Price had been scheduled to start Sunday against New York. It wasn’t immediately clear if he would make that start or who would fill in for him if he remained away from the team.

In the corresponding roster move, Boston recalled infielder Marco Hernandez from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Price is 7-4 with a 3.86 in 20 starts this season.
