Sources: Yair Rodriguez to fight in native Mexico

Yair Rodriguez is finally coming home.

“El Pantera” will meet Jeremy Stephens in the main event of UFC Fight Night Mexico City Sept. 21, sources told ESPN.

Rodriguez (11-2) is coming off a last-second knockout win over Chan Sung Jung in November. That win marked his ninth in his last ten fights. The fight will be a homecoming of sorts for Rodriguez, who was born in Parral, Mexico, as this will mark his first fight in Mexico since June 2015.

Stephens (28-16) will look to snap a two-fight losing streak against Rodriguez. He most recently lost to Zabit Magomedsharipov in March following a TKO loss to Jose Aldo last summer.

The event will take place at Arena Ciudad de Mexico and will be the venue’s fifth time hosting a UFC card.
