Toe Poke Daily: Mbappe models PSG’s new ‘infrared’ kit, Neymar nowhere to be seen

Football
Whether they are finding Paul Pogba a new club or preparing Neymar for Barcelona, summer is a busy time for The Football Agents.
With the summer transfer window coming to an end, Sid Lowe says Barcelona will probably have to overpay to get Neymar to Camp Nou.

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

Jump to: Juventus unveil “disruptive” new away kit

Paris Saint-Germain have launched their away kit for the 2019-20 season, their latest release produced by Jordan bearing the iconic Jumpman logo.

It’s a typically classy effort, in a block colour described as “infrared” by the manufacturers garnished with black trim on the sleeves and collar. There is also what is being called “an ode to Paris” printed on the reverse of the collar, although that is a bit of a stretch as it just the word “Paris.”

Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti are front and centre of the launch campaign, modelling the kit along with PSG Feminines star Marie-Antoinette Katoto.

Kylian Mbappe was the focal point of Paris Saint-Germain’s kit launch.

But one player is conspicuous by their absence. Surely, as the world’s most expensive player, Neymar should be the focal point of this kit launch.

The Brazil star has spent much of the summer in his homeland, watching his national team win the Copa America after being ruled out of the tournament through injury. He then delayed his journey back to Europe in order to host his annual 5-a-side tournament, when he made sure the rumours surrounding his return to Barcelona were given fresh life in a Q&A posted on social media.

Still, with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitting they would let their €222 million man leave for the right price and sources this week telling ESPN FC that the striker and his entourage are confident Barca will soon put together a strong cash-plus-players offer for him, it probably works out best for all involved that fans aren’t encouraged to order the new kit with “Neymar” printed on the back just yet.

Juventus unveil “disruptive” new away kit

PSG weren’t the only ones peddling new apparel on Thursday — Juventus also unleashed their new away shirt.

Modelled by men’s team stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Miralem Pjnaic and Paulo Dybala as well as women’s players Eni Aluko and Lisa Boattin, the white jersey features a camouflage pattern and Adidas’s trademark three stripes that are also the same colour as the shirt, while the club badge and trim details are a “hi-res” red.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a fair bit of success wearing a white shirt in the past.

This, according to the manufacturers, is very disruptive, so much so that word is used three times in the 158-word press release which claims the effect “mirrors the way in which the most creative players make bold moves on the pitch to change the flow of the game.”

We’re not sure about all that, but it is an undeniably slick outfit.
