Angelo Rodríguez scored three goals as Minnesota United easily accounted for New Mexico United on Wednesday.

Minnesota United sent out a stunning warning to its potential U.S. Open Cup rivals, defeating New Mexico United 6-1 in Wednesday’s quarterfinal.

Santi Moar gave the USL Championship side the lead after just seven minutes, but it was all one-way traffic after that.

Angelo Rodríguez bagged himself a first-half hat trick, while goals from Darwin Quintero, Jan Gregus and Miguel Ibarra ensured that the Loons marched into the semifinals full of confidence.

The Portland Timbers will join Minnesota in the final four after a 1-0 win over LAFC.

The game appeared deadlocked until LAFC defender Jordan Harvey knocked the ball right into the path of Timbers striker Jeremy Ebobisse to set up the winner in the 84th minute.

Elsewhere, Atlanta United defeated Saint Louis FC 2-0 and Orlando City needed penalties to get past New York City FC to both book their places in the semis.
