Baccus moves from Melbourne City to Kaizer Chiefs

New Melbourne City coach Erick Mombaerts says he will bring an attractive style of play to the club.

Melbourne City midfielder Kearyn Baccus has departed the A-League club to return to his native South Africa.

Baccus, who also had stints at Perth Glory and Western Sydney, is moving to South African Premier Division giants the Kaizer Chiefs.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Durban, played 27 A-League games last season for City after joining the club from the Wanderers.

“We are awaiting the arrival of Kearyn Baccus from Melbourne City in Australia,” the Chiefs said in a statement.

Kearyn Baccus made 27 appearances for Melbourne City last season.

“The two clubs have agreed on terms and the midfielder is expected to officially be announced this week.”

The Kaizer Chiefs also confirmed the signing of Samir Nurkovic from Slovakian club FKC Komarno on Tuesday.
