Denver Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray has agreed to a five-year, $170 million contract extension, agent Mike George told The Athletic.
Murray, the Nuggets’ first-round pick in 2016 out of Kentucky, will play out his rookie deal next season. When the rookie max contract begins in 2020, he will make $29.3 million, then progressively more until the deal’s final season, when he’ll make $36.6 million in 2024-25.
Murray and center Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets to a surprising turnaround this past season, when they finished with the second-best record in the West and advanced to the conference semifinals, where they were ousted in seven games by Portland.
