Sources: UFC releases Willis from contract

MMA

Justin Willis is no longer on the UFC roster.

The promotion recently released the heavyweight prospect, sources told ESPN. TSN first reported the news.

According to sources, the UFC decided to part ways with Willis, 31, after the two sides could not agree on a date for his next fight. Willis recently signed a new contract with the UFC and had three fights left on it.

Willis (8-2) recently lost to Curtis Blaydes via unanimous decision in March, however, he had won eight fights in a row prior to that bout, including his first four UFC fights. His most notable win came in December 2018 when he defeated veteran Mark Hunt in Australia.

Willis wasn’t immediately available for comment when contacted by ESPN.
