Kash Ali has been handed a six-month ban from boxing after he was disqualified for biting opponent David Price last month.
Ali has also been fined £10,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) following the incident, which took place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England on Mar. 30.
Ali (15-1, 7 KOs), 27, was on the ropes in the fifth round of the non-title heavyweight fight when he bit Price on the torso after the pair fell to the floor. Bite marks could been seen on Price’s body and Ali was immediately disqualified by referee Mark Lawson.
His boxing license was provisionally suspended following the fight while the decision to ban Ali was made at a BBBoC hearing on April 13. Ali’s £20,000 purse from the fight has also been withheld.
Ali released an apology to Price on April 4, five days after the fight, where he said he was “hugely embarrassed” by his actions.
Ali also said he had spoken to Price, who he said had accepted his apology.
